John Deron Johnson
A native of Mobile, Alabama, Pastor Johnson has been in ministry since April 24, 1986. In August of 2018, a group of faithful and progressive members who desired liberation from the yoke of denominational tyranny formed Calvary Christian Center of Pasadena with John Deron Johnson as Pastor.
Reverend Johnson graduated from the Mobile County Public School System in Alabama and later earned his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Psychology, from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary at Northwestern University. While at Garrett-Evangelical, he served on the Board of Trustees, and was a member of the National Association of Black Seminarians.
Since assuming the pastorate at Calvary Christian Center of Pasadena, he has been intentional about healing and rebuilding the faith community through advocating that church must be a center for transformation.
Reverend Johnson is married to the lovely Mrs. Kimberly Calvert-Johnson and they have one son, Ryan and twin grandsons, Nathan and Nicholas. Rev. Johnson has led spiritual revivals and workshops across the country and he is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He loves music and is a strong advocate for reclaiming the black male for the church, family, and community.
